The Directorate functions is key in developing, streamlining and implementing the Gombe State Ten – Year Development Plan (also identified as Development Agenda for Gombe State, DEVAGOM). The plan was developed through a holistic process of Stakeholder consultations at various levels in the State to capture aspirations of the people. It is a roadmap that guides policy makers and development partners in keying in the target areas to realize the vision of the State.
Functions of Planning Directorate
Preparation of the State Development Plan. Periodic review and update of sectoral strategies, policies and plans in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the State. Conduct Research into the issues relating to the various sectors of the economy of the State. Conduct Research into the internal organization and operational modalities of the State MDA’s Maintain close contact with relevant bodies outside the State, especially the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and National Population Commission (NPC) in the performance of the above functions. Review performance of State development plan periodically. BP&DPCO together with the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development and a Management Consultant are saddled with the responsibility of preparing the Gombe State Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) and Medium Term Sector Strategy (MTSS). The documents are prepared jointly by planning and budget directorates and provide guidance in the preparation of State annual budget. The documents are to be reviewed annually in line with laid down policies. The Office through directorate of Planning oversees the activities and functions of State Bureau of Statistics, the function handled by directorate of Planning.
